The Boat

Scehawk is a 1983 41 foot Sigma. Sigma was an English boat building company which merged with Moody at the end of the 80s. The boats are known to be quite fast (yay!). This 80s ad says it all though:

Look how she is cooking while he is navigating..

  • Length 12.5 m
  • Beam 3.93 m
  • Draft 2.20m
  • Water Tank Capacity 85.0 gal (386 L)
  • Fuel Tank Capacity 35.0 gal (159 L)
  • Engine
    • Model: Yanmar 3JH5E
    • Fuel Type: diesel
    • Propeller Type: Inboard

She is equipped with a hydrovane and a satellite phone. Thomas fits exactly into the pilot berth. That might come in handy in rough seas or when the honeymooning crew gets into a fight. And yes, this boat has a cocktail cabinet.

The previous owners couldn’t explain where the name came from or what it meant. So we decided to keep it. We’ll pronounce it as ‘seahawk’ and keep the weird spelling. The ‘e’ is written as ‘∑’ for obvious reasons. We’ll baptize her with champagne anyway.

You can read about the search for the perfect boat here and here.
